Welcome

hi-flight aerospace are UK suppliers of HSH Finishes. The objectives of introducing waterborne coatings for the maintenance of air cabin interiors were initially determined on general health, environment and low VOC issues. Additional features of waterborne coatings were emerging along with further coating modification procedures stimulated by the aircraft manufacturers solvent borne coating requirements.

HSH AEROSPACE FINISHES with two European and one American competitor entered a race to meet the Airbus, Boeing, Embraer and Bombardier requirements with exclusive waterborne solutions. One of the most notable issues is the flammability criterion OSU 65/65 (recently changed by Airbus to OSU 55/55), a standard adopted worldwide and one of the top screening methods for all materials used in air cabins. The most recent HSH coating technology provides a virtual fire barrier coating combining all of the other OEM test criteria. For the first time in history a waterborne coating is capable of beating the traditional solvent based emporium.

This is good news for the battered aviation industry. Risk free coating application in confined areas, very much like air cabins versus stripping the entire infrastructure for painting is a most attractive and cost-effective overhaul process. More needed than any time before. The use of coatings for this purpose was almost completely banned. However with the numerous advantages of a waterborne coating the industry is turning away from the decorative laminates. Even an expert cannot distinct a coated surface from a decorative film anymore. The cost savings however are more than 90 percent!
